British Arcadia Group joins Bangladesh Accord 2

RMG Times Desk Report: Four major brands of British Arcadia Group have joined the next edition to Bangladesh Accord on Fire and Building Safety confirms IndustriAll in a tweet. These brands are Top Shop, Dorothy Perkins, Top Man and Miss Selfridge. To continue the safety process in the garments factories of Bangladesh they signed in this legally binding for next three years until May 2021.

Some of the major British Brands and retailers like Marks and Spencer, Next, Debenhams, Sainsbury’s, Morrisons are still silent in this regard. The global unions are urging all of other brands and retailers to stick with the new agreement of Bangladesh accord to ensure workers’ safety in the RMG factories.

The Accord is an independent, legally binding agreement between brands and trade unions designed to work towards a safe and healthy Bangladeshi Ready-Made Garment Industry for making enable a working environment in which no worker needs to fear fires, building collapses, or other accidents that could be prevented with reasonable health and safety measures.

The first accord was signed by over 200 companies. It worked before, and it can work again.
