Salary of March paid to 917 BGMEA member factories

Staff Correspondent: The salary of March 2020 has already been paid to 917 BGMEA member factories as of Monday, 13 April 2020. BGMEA source said that rest of the factories will pay within the time-frame.

Earlier on 6 April 2020, BGMEA President Dr. Rubana Huq and BKMEA President AKM Salim Osman jointly called on all their respective member factories to pay the March salary by April 16.

According to a source from BGMEA, 917 from total 2274 factories already paid the salary of March from which 124 located in Dhaka, 359 in Gazipur, 207 in Ashulia-Savar, 82 in Narayangonj, 114 in Chattogram and 31 located in the remote areas of the country.

Rubana Huq said, “The salary of March is supposed to be paid by 16 April and we have still time in hand. Hopefully, 80% factories will be able to pay within the timeline. We requested our members to post a clear notice with the specific date of salary hand over in their main gates. Workers seek for assurance. To provide the specific date & time of salary is the responsibility of the owners”.
