Modele Group announces BDT 5 Crore package program to fight coronavirus

Washim Mia, Staff Correspondent: Narayangonj based a reputed readymade garment manufacturing and exporting company in Bangladesh- Modele Group has come forward with a huge package program worth to BDT 5 Crore to fight coronavirus.

The total program combines four-tier which includes Public Awareness and Hygiene Programme (Tk 40 lakh), Food Support Programme to 15000 workers of the group (Tk 1.5 crore), Medical Protection Programme (Tk 1.5 crore) and Financial Aid Programme (Tk 1.58 Crore).

Mr. Arup Kumar Saha, AGM- HR, Admin & Compliance, informed it on behalf of the Managing Director of the company Mr. Masuduzzaman through a press conference at the Hall Room of ‘Modele De Capital Industries Ltd.’ at Fatullah on Saturday.

Under the public awareness and hygiene programme, the group has taken different initiatives for public awareness to curb Covid-19 and sterilise the city and roads by their own volunteers with the help of locals.

Under the food support programme, it will provide food support to around 15,000 vulnerable families, including factory workers, and the food basket includes rice, pulses, potatoes, oil, onion and soap. The factory already distributed food and other stated commodities to the workers and helpless people on Saturday.

To ensure the working health, safety and protection to the frontliner medical team of the district, the group has stepped up to collect authentic medical protective equipment from overseas; hand gloves, PPE, goggles, shield, masks, thermometer etc are in the list. This equipment will be distributed through proper authorities to ensure maximum coverage.

Under the financial programme, the group will allocate the total amount (1.58 Crore) as cash to Narayangonj City Corporation (NCC) Mayor Dr. Selina Hayat Ivy (30 Lac), Mr. AKM Shamim Osman MP (20 Lac), Mr. AKM Salim Osman MP (20 Lac), Deputy Commissioner Mr. Jashim Uddin (20 Lac), Superintendent of Police Mr. Jayedul Alam (10 Lac), middle income citizens (20 Lac), NCC cleaning staff (10 Lac), Journalists (10 Lac), Word No. 11 (NCC) Counselor Mr. Jamsher Ali Jhantu (20 Lac), Word No. 12 (NCC) Counselor Mr. Shoukot Hashem Soku (5 Lac), Word No. 13 (NCC) Counselor and to Mr. Maksudul Alam Khandaker Khorshed (3 Lac).

Besides, Modele Group opened two hotline numbers where anyone can contact and get support. The company requested all to communicate for any assistance during the corona crisis.
