Control Union Bangladesh Sustainability Seminar -2019 held in Dhaka

Staff Correspondent: To lift the business up to the next level of improvement ensuring compliance overall, “Control Union Bangladesh Sustainability Seminar 2019” was held on 14th November 2019 at Le Meridian, Dhaka, Bangladesh.

With the attendance of a number of sustainability professionals in the seminar, it began at 09.45 AM with recitation from “The Holy Quran” and “The National Anthem”.

Then, Mr. Dirk Teichert, Chairman- RT Asia, Control Union officially inaugurated the event.

Mr. Fakhrul Islam Khan, Managing Director- Control Union Bangladesh gave his introductory speech. In it, he gave a brief idea on Control Union as well as the ongoing services of Control Union Bangladesh.

About 500 representatives from many reputed organizations, brands, retailers and RMG professionals who are mostly involved with sustainability participated this program.

Each respective speaker from different prominent sector like Mr. Amish Gosai (South Asia Manager, Textile Exchange), Ms. Jaskiran Warrik (Director, South Asia, OCA), Mr. Kazy Mohammad Iqbal Hossain (South Asia Regional Sustainability Manager, Lindex), Mr. Muhammad Harunur Rashid (CR Bangladesh, Cotton Connect) and Dr. Binay Kumar Chowdhury (Chairman, CU India).

Md. Fakhrul Islam Khan ( Managing Director, CU Bangladesh) gave an idea about Organic cotton (GOTS & OCS), Recycle cotton and polyester (GRS & RCS), Animal Welfare standards (RDS & RWS), Collaborating to Secure the Future for the Organic Cotton Sector, Sustainability Promise for Future Generation, Innovation for Sustainable Textile and Higg Verification Experiences.

Moreover, the most important aspects were the life cycle of Organic Cotton, Recycled Cotton, Recycled Polyester, Recycled Wool, RDS, RWS and FSC products was displayed during seminar. This was great experience for the participants to touch and feel as well as see the product flow. A designated place to dispose of abandoned plastic bottles was set. The post consumed plastic bottles are then sent to a factory for recycling.
