Allegations of deception against NTS holdings, a supplier of ALDI

Staff Correspondent: Allegations of labor deception and exploitation are found against NTS Holdings – Bangladesh Liaison office of ‘ HKG Garments Solutions (GMBH)’ a German-based buying company of Bangladeshi ready-made garments. Former two of the officers of the company Mr. Jahid Mollah, Senior QA and Mr. Tarekul Islam Tarek, Head of Technician, complained that they had been deprived of their deserved owing by providing illegal appointment letters and incompatible papers. They also said that according to rules the company (NTS) did not even pay their compensation and their salary of the last month at the time of their resignation after seven years of service. NTS  supply garments for ALDI, a German-based garments brand.

In a written complaint to RMG Times, they said, ‘‘We have resigned fairly but the company is not serving any kinds of facilities and not paying our salary of the last month. We had been in the company for 7 years. We had some expectations of others to get some facilities but in vain. It betrayed with us’’.

Mr. Tarek said, “ I joined in NTS Fashion Limited (Now known as NTS Holdings) in 2010 and worked here for 7 years. But the papers showed I worked here only for 4 months! I did not even think that the company which I worked for would betray in such way”.

He also said, “ By maintaining all the official rules we both resigned from our post last month for getting another better opportunity. The company accepted the resignation and from September 01, 2017 we would be exempted. But later on, they denied for any compensation. We contacted with Mr. Yusuf Sammad, General Manager of NTS Bangladesh, and to Head Office. But they all did the same. According to them, as we got the equal amount of money in Eid bonus, we would not get any further salary. Because there was no Eid bonus in the 4 month’s job! “ I would get service benefit after long-term service- It could be forgotten as a nightmare but why wouldn’t I get my deserved salary? You gave the bonus on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, why not in Eid-ul-Adha? We did a lot for the company but it gave nothing but deception in return”- said Mr. Jahid to RMG Times with a heavy heart. “ Though the management, team, work area, sectors had been united, the company issued incompatible papers by changing name and address so that it could exploit the workers easily. We will go to the Labor Court very soon to get our deserved owing back”, added Mr. Jahid. In

In the condition of secrecy, a senior lawyer of Supreme Court said, “ The two victims had been working in the company for long 7 years. Surely they are rightful to get compensation. I have checked their documents. If NTS Holdings is not paying the deserved owing of the workers, it is guilty. In this regard, the victims can go to the Labor Court”.

Mr. Yusuf Sammad, GM- NTS Holdings, did not give any information to the RMG Times about it when he was asked.
