Epyllion Group won 6th Standard Chartered Bank and Financial Express CSR Award

Staff Correspondent : Epyllion Group, one of the most modern and compliant Garment Manufacturing group and PHP Group have received CSR award 2016 for their outstanding activities for the society. Finance Minister AMA Muhith handed over the 6th SCB-FE CSR awards to the recipients as the chief guest at a function held at the Westin Hotel in the capital on Wednesday.

Professor Wahiduddin Mahmud, Chairman of the 12-member CSR award committee, announced names of the winners in consideration of their roles in various arenas, especially in the fields of health, education, promotion of young talents and green manufacturing practices.

Sufi Mohamed Mizanur Rahman, Chairman of PHP Family, and Reaz Uddin Al-Mamoon, Managing Director of Epyllion Group, received the awards on behalf of their respective organisations.

The Financial Express (FE) Editor AHM Moazzem Hossain gave the vote of thanks.

Among others, State Minister for Finance and Planning MA Mannan and Chief Executive Officer of Standard Chartered Bank, Bangladesh Abrar A. Anwar and country head of corporate Bitopi Das Chowdhury spoke on the occasion.

Among the award recipients, Epyllion Group started its journey as a readymade garment (RMG) house manufacturing and exporting knitwear since 1994 and has been considered today as one of the biggest conglomerates with establishment of its backward linkage of all kinds-knit garments, textile, wet processing and garments accessories. The Group experienced 25 per cent export growth in the fiscal year 2014-2015 while the capacity growth intensified to 8.0 per cent during the same period. Major buyers of its products are C&A, M&S, G-Star, H&M, Celio, Original Marine, Next and s.Oliver etc.

On the other hand, PHP (Peace, Happiness & Prosperity) Group started its business in 1969 to emerge later one of the leading business conglomerates in Bangladesh. It is now the well-known PHP Family. The group comprises over 30 companies that are operating in diversified business sectors like Steel, Float Glass, Aluminum, Textiles, Power, Petro Refinery, Financial Services, Agro and so on.
