Staff Correspondent : BGMEA president mentioned that the Working conditions in Garment Factories of Bangladesh now is much better than any time before during an occasion of a Certificate awarding ceremony to 200 trainees who received training under Skills for Employment Investment Program (SEIP) were handed over certificates at a program on 3 November.
Additional Secretary of the Finance Ministry and National Project Director of SEIP Mr. Jalal Ahmed attended the program as Chief Guest and distributed the certificates among the trainees.
BGMEA President Md. Siddiqur Rahman presided over the certificate awarding ceremony where BGMEA Vice President (Finance) and Convener of BGMEA-SEIP Project Mohammed Nasir, Vice Chancellor of BGMEA University of Fashion and Technology (BUFT) Prof. Dr. Nizamuddin Ahmed, Country Managing Director at Intertek Bangladesh Karthik N.D and Head of Textile Engineering Department at Daffodil International University Professor Dr. Mahbubul Haque were present as Special Guests. BGMEA under the auspices of the Finance Ministry and with funding from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) is implementing SEIP to develop skills of around 44 thousand workers and mid-level employees in the ready-made garment industry in three years by providing them training.
BGMEA president also stated that lots of people assumed that the RMG sector will be collapsed from Bangladesh once the Accord and Alliance started their inspection. But only 39 factories have been shut down due to the inspection which proved that the condition is much better now.
