Swedish retail giant H&M Hennes & Mauritz AB (H&M), has called upon its suppliers in Bangladesh to focus on making apparel wholly from recycled materials by 2030.

This is as per reports, which maintained H&M made this appeal even as it looks to abide by a European Union (EU) due diligence law on protecting the environment and human rights, keeping with which, the retailer has reportedly set a target to have 24 per cent of its apparel sourced from sustainable or recycled materials by 2025.

The Regional Country Manager of H&M Ziaur Rahman reportedly underlined this while adding his company directly procures apparel from 200 factories even as it pays the ‘correct’ prices for buying readymade garments made from recycled yarn and fabric.

As per the EU’s due diligence act, global apparel brands and retailers will have to use recycled yarn and fabrics for garment items meant for the EU markets, Ziaur Rahman claimed further.
