Fazlul Haque, Staff Correspondent : 2 days long internal auditor training course on chemical management system held at “Hotel High Garden” at Uttara, Dhaka on 22-23 July, 2016. “Sustainable Management System Inc” the USA based management system certification providing company has arranged this auditor training for the first time in Bangladesh. There were 20 delegates from different organization like TUV Rhineland, GlobalGroup, CERES GMBH (Third Party Certification Body), Accord Bangladesh Foundation, Noman Group, Epic Group, AGS International Limited (Washing & Dyeing factory), Queen South Textile, Colossus Apparels, Eurocentra (Buying agent), Doreen Group and from a development organization SWISS Contact.

The day one of the course was related to the different requirement of the Chemical Management System and the second day was related to the auditing. The training was very lively with the informative slides and different exercises and role play.
Mr. Abdul Alim, The President and CEO of the USA based Certification Body and the Lead Trainer of the session said to RMG Times Correspondent after the end of the session. He said that regarding environment, all should think as global citizen. Environment has no boundary or country border. The rising textile and leather sector of Bangladesh is playing a vital role for the economy of the country but the industry shall be environment friendly as well. This training is an initiative to aware and create our personnel capable to manage all hazardous substances in a control manner. So that, none of the chemicals used in a textile process may pollute our environment. He thanked Green piece international for the Detox campaign.
The brands and major suppliers to the brands like H&M, C&A, ALDI and lot more joint to the initiative with a goal of Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals is a great footprint to save the environment for our future generation, he added.
Mr. Alim informed RMG Times that, Sustainable Management System Inc. is going to develop a Chemical management system standard called “Chemically Responsible Management” and introduce a 5 day Lead Auditor Training Course to create resources for the upcoming chemical audits. As a part of the training department of Sustainable Management System Inc, this type of the training will be continued for future as well, Mr. Alim added.
Mr. Hasem, The Technical Director of a German Based Certification, Inspection and Testing Company TUV Rhineland attended at the training and said that this training was very helpful and the knowledge gained from the training can be implemented in their operation as they are planning to start different test related to ZDHC/DETOX.
Mr. Mehbub Al Hasan, Senior Advisor of Swiss Contact also appreciated the initiative and expressed deep satisfaction for the training course outcome.
Mr. Abdul Alim has delivered the Certificate of attendance to all the delegates at the end of the course.
